David M Bloor BSc MSc DipOH FFOH

I started work in Occupational Hygiene in the late '70s during university vacations working at the British Ceramic Research Association.

My first degree was from Durham and I then trained as a teacher in Oxford and taught for a few years before returning to Occupational Hygiene.

After completing an MSc in Occupational Hygiene at Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1982, I joined the National Occupational Hygiene Service which was the largest UK consultancy at that time.

From 1988 until 2000 I worked for Shell as part of a team which covered all Shell operations including Exploration and Production, Oils Refining and Marketing, Chemicals Manufacturing and Marketing as well as many other ventures from making candles to silicon chips.

Since leaving Shell I have worked in a large UK consultancy as well as running my own consultancy.

I have held the Diploma of Professional Competence in Comprehensive Occupational Hygiene (DipOH) since 1988 and am a registered Occupational Hygienist of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene.

I am a Past President of the British Institute of Occupational Hygienists (which merged with the British Occupational Hygiene Society in 2003), a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (the professional arm of BOHS) and currently sit on the Board of the Faculty.
